Almighty Father, whose Son was revealed in majesty before he suffered death upon the cross: give us grace to perceive his glory, that we may be strengthened to suffer with him and be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

2 Kings 2.1-12 (page 367)
2 Corinthians 4.3-6 (page 1161)
Mark 9.2-9 (page 1012)

We welcome Rev Dawn Stokes to Braunston's 8.00 a.m. service and Rev Margaret Johnson to Ashby 9.15 a.m. and Braunston 11:00 a.m.

Mark’s gospel tells of the transfiguration of Jesus on the top of a mountain. Jesus changes appearance and becomes dazzling. God speaks and affirms Jesus as His son who He loves with the command “Listen to Him!” In the reading from 2 Corinthians Paul says the minds of unbelievers have been blinded so they cannot see the light of the gospel and the glory of Christ. As we listen to the word of God this morning are we really listening? It is only with open ears and minds and hearts that the dazzling glory of Christ’s light will be revealed to us.
