Parish Nursing in Braunston

2016 - 2019

All Saints’ Church has been delighted to be able to offer a parish nurse to the village community between 2016 and 2019 thanks to an extremely generous grant from the Peterborough Diocese in 2015 which we applied for specifically to establish a parish nursing service in Braunston.

We are especially grateful to Maggie Murray, our parish nurse, who has been available to all in the village, not just church-goers. As many will testify, her expertise, kindness and dedication has made a significant impact on the lives of many in our parish.

2020 and Beyond

We give thanks and are very pleased to announce that funding has been secured to employ a parish nurse for a further 3 years. We are grateful to the generosity of The Sobell Foundation and the Garfield Weston Foundation for grants which will enable the continuation of parish nursing in Braunston until at least 2022.

The Sobell Foundation

The Sobell Foundation was established by the late Sir Michael Sobell in 1977 for general charitable purposes and is a grant-making trust with which he was actively involved until shortly before his death in 1993. The deed of charitable trust, under which the Sobell Foundation was formed, is not specific about the objects of the Trust and allows the Trustees absolute discretion to apply funds for general charitable purposes.

Garfield Weston Foundation

Established in 1958, the Garfield Weston Foundation is a family-founded charitable grant-making trust which now gives away approximately £80 million a year to charities across the UK. Having established one of the most respected charitable institutions in the UK, the Weston Family Trustees today remain highly active and hands-on. The Foundation’s funding comes from an endowment of shares in the family business – a successful model that still endures today and as the businesses have grown so too have the charitable donations.

Each year the Foundation gives away its income and donations have continued to grow. Since it was established it has donated over £1 billion, of which over half has been given away in the past ten years alone. In the most recent financial year the Foundation gave away over £79 million to over 2,100 charities across the UK.
