COLLECT:

Almighty God, in Christ you make all things new: transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace, and in the renewal of our lives make known your heavenly glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

READINGS FOR TODAY:

1 Samuel 3:1-10 (page 273)
John 1:43-51 (page 1064)
Revelation 5.1-10 (page 1236)

We welcome Rev Dawn Stokes to Braunston's 8.00 a.m. service and Rev Doug Spenceley to Ashby 9.15 a.m. and Braunston 11:00 a.m.
Today we consider what it means to be called by God. People have heard the call of God in many different ways. Samuel heard it while he was sleeping in the temple and it took him three times to recognize that God was the one calling his name. Even then the call had to be interpreted for him. Only when Samuel was able to respond with "Speak, for your servant is listening" would he be able to embark on a new beginning. How open are we to hearing God's call, to really listening, and how ready are we to respond and to follow Jesus?
